This tall planter is a stack of three frames which provides enough depth (approx. 50cm) for thorough drainage even if the planter is placed on a clay soil or concrete base. Extra depth and our Mediterranean Soil Mix will keep your herbs safe from the root rot. Prepare a flat surface in your garden. It is recommended to choose a spot that receives at least 6 hours or more of sunlight per day. If the surface is overgrown with lawn or weeds, we recommend covering it with a thick layer or old newspaper or cardboard to prevent grass and weeds growing inside the garden bed. Fill up with amended soil, we recommend using our Mediterranean Soil Mix. Once filled with a growth medium, your garden bed is ready to be used.
The slim design of this planter allows it to be positioned against the wall under the roof’s eave if you wish to additionally protect your herbs from heavy rain. Make sure the wall is exposed to sunlight for at least 4-6 hours of the day. Wooden frame boards are around 17cm (recycled ironwood) or 20cm wide (local timber). Both options are available in a few lengths to create longer or shorter planters. Planter is delivered ready to use, the boards are attached with metal brackets.
